Approach
Slow work, taken seriously.
There are many ways to describe a therapeutic method. The more honest way is to describe what actually happens in the room. This page tries to do that.
01 — The premise
My work is grounded in depth psychology — the tradition that treats the unconscious as real and consequential. The premise is simple to state and slow to live: symptoms are not malfunctions to be silenced but communications to be understood. Anxiety, repetition, the dream that keeps returning — each has a logic, and the work is to find it.
This is not a quick method, and I won't pretend otherwise. It suits people who suspect that what troubles them has roots, and who would rather understand the root than trim the branch again.
The aim is not to become someone else. It is to stop abandoning who you already are.
02 — A session
50 minutes, once a week, in the same room at the same hour. The regularity is part of the method — it builds a container reliable enough for difficult things to appear. You bring what is present: an event, a mood, a dream, or nothing in particular. Nothing in particular is often where the real material begins.
I listen for patterns more than problems. I will sometimes offer an interpretation, sometimes a question, sometimes silence — silence in this room is not absence but space. You remain the authority on your own experience throughout.
03 — Orientation
My training is analytical (Jungian), supplemented by contemporary work on attachment and the body. In practice this means we take dreams seriously, we take history seriously, and we take the relationship between us seriously — because how it feels to sit in this room usually mirrors how it feels to be you elsewhere.
Where another approach would serve you better — trauma-specific work, psychiatric care, couples counselling — I will say so plainly and help you find it.
